In a first for the local housing trust, a dedicated police community support officer (PCSO) has been recruited to provide a reassuring presence for tenants on Keighley estates.
PCSO Anne Kirby is being part funded by the Aire-Wharfe office of Bradford Community Housing Trust and will go on the beat in local neighbourhoods. She will also attend tenant group meetings to respond to any issues raised in local areas.
Harry Whittle, the Director of BCHT’s Aire-Wharfe office said: “We are delighted to link up with the police and sponsor the appointment of a specially assigned police community support officer.
“Anne will work closely with our housing officers to cover areas where there might be a particular anti-social behaviour issues or a spate of criminal activity. But above all, Anne will provide a highly visible point of contact on our estates and other housing areas.
“The Housing Trust is committed to keeping neighbourhoods safe and secure for the benefit of everyone and this key appointment is a big step forward.”
Insp Mark Allsop of the Keighley Neighbourhood Policing Team said: “This is a great example of partnership working between the Housing Trust and the Police for the benefit of local residents.
“Anne is an additional resource to deal with resident and housing trust issues around crime and anti-social behaviour. She will become a regular face for people to get to know and will work closely with BCHT to resolve matters that effect communities.”
“She has lived in the area and knows the community and will be focused on their issues.”
Anne is part of the Keighley Neighbourhood Policing Team and will work alongside PC Jonathan Firth and other local PCSO's.
