Jane Shaw and her partner Lee became the first people to snap up a shared ownership property with Shipley Community Housing Trust.
The couple moved into their newly modernised four-bedroom terrace home on the edge of Esholt village with their two children.
Their new home is one of three properties in the village to be completely refurbished by the housing trust and offered under shared-ownership
It has been transformed to include a smart new kitchen, bathroom with walk-in shower, new central heating system, gas fire and full rewiring.
Outside, the original slate roof has been repaired and re-laid, guttering and fall pipes replaced and new windows and doors fitted.
The couple have bought a 25 per cent stake in the property and pay Shipley CHT a weekly rent on the remaining 75 per cent share.
Jane says she is delighted with her new home. She said: “The house has been transformed by the housing trust to a high standard. I love the fitted kitchen and bathroom.
“It’s in a lovely area and convenient for work and the children’s school.
Lorraine O’Brien, Executive Director of Shipley CHT said: “The shared ownership scheme enables people to take an equitable share in a property they might otherwise be unable to afford.
“It has helped Jane and Lee to get on the first rung of the property ladder and I’m delighted that they are so pleased with their new home.
“As a Trust we are keen to develop affordable housing options and we are expecting to hand over more homes at Wrose under shared ownership in the near future.”
Ten bungalows at Oakdale Avenue in Wrose have been advertised through the Trust’s Homehunter lettings service, four of which are available on a shared ownership basis and six homes are being offered for rent.
