Bradford Community Housing Trust Group now holds three ‘green lights’ for its overall performance following the latest assessment by the Housing Corporation.
All housing associations with more than 250 homes are regulated by the Housing Corporation who use a traffic light system to assess their financial viability, the way they are governed and housing management.
A green light is the highest rating and red is the lowest.
In 2004, BCHT Group was awarded green lights for financial viability and housing management and an amber light for governance.
However, this month the Trust was awarded a ‘green’ rating for governance, which covers how the organisation is governed, leadership and control of the organisation. In their report (July 2006) the Housing Corporation said the Group demonstrated …’clarity in its control and direction’… and ‘there is a sound basis on which to build’. It also commented that ‘BCHT has a healthy and constructive level of tenant representation at Board level’.
Martin Smith, Group Chairman of BCHT said: “I am delighted that we have now achieved this recognition. It reflects the outstanding commitment of board members, staff and our partners.
“BCHT is going through an exciting period as our investment programme moves into year four and thousands of tenants are benefiting from improvements to their homes.”
BCHT Group Chief Executive, Geraldine Howley said: “We are committed to continuing to demonstrate good management, show clear direction and maintain effective systems as we strive to be the landlord, employer and partner of first choice.”
