hamper hand-out for tenants

18 December 2006

Festive hampers full of food and gifts for Christmas were handed out to deserving housing tenants a few days before Christmas.

Over 20 boxes brimming with goodies were made up by staff at East Bradford Community Housing Trust (CHT) ready for their delivery to local residents including families, housebound and elderly people.

The hamper hand-out is an annual activity for the housing staff and this year tenants in East Bradford were asked to nominate deserving neighbours and other tenants who they felt would benefit from the Christmas gift.

A host of local organisations have made donations for the hampers. They are Bullock Construction, Hallmark, Holme Christian Care Centre, Holme Wood Executive, Lovell Partnerships, Morrisons, Powerminster, the local Strategic Team Group, Vision Technology Ltd and Wates Construction, and St Christopher’s Churchin Holmewood,

Pam Chahal, the Trust’s Tenant Involvement Officer for East Bradford CHT said: “We  worked with our housing staff, tenants and the Tenancy Support Service to identify tenants for hampers. We hope our tenants enjoyed the hampers and hope to be handing out more next year.

“Thanks to the tenants who nominated other tenants for a hamper, without their help we cannot deliver a customer focused service.”

Dave Dickens, Head of Operations at East Bradford Community Housing Trust said: “A big thank you to Pam, the Trust’s Tenant Involvement Officer, who has put an enormous amount of work into this project including collecting donations and shopping for items for the hampers. I would also like to thank those many organisations and groups who have kindly donated food and gifts.”
