A slimming club, sky-dive and a community bring-and-buy sale are just some of the different things being organised to raise money for Cancer Research UK.

 

The fundraising is being organised by Aire-Wharfe Community Housing Trust (CHT) workers – Sally Worsnop, Tracy Tough and Toby Heslop – who want to show their support for their boss Carol Bridges who was recently diagnosed with breast cancer.

 

Sally said: “Carol is making good progress following a recent operation and her courage has inspired everyone. Carol, who is now receiving chemotherapy, is right behind the charity fundraising and hopefully she will be able to join us soon at one of the events.”

 

Housing colleagues in Keighley and Bradford have already got the campaign off to a great start by donating over £560 with office collections.

 

Fifteen staff at Aire-Wharfe CHT have launched their own slimming club and are each donating a pound a week to take part in weekly weigh-ins.

 

Tenants will also be able to join in the fundraising with a cake and coffee day at the Farish House sheltered scheme in Keighley and a bring-and-buy sale at Harewood Road Community Centre.

 

Wardens and cleaners in housing trust accommodation across Aire-Wharfe are also being asked to support the fundraising.

 

In November, Sally Worsnop will plunge 15,000 feet in a tandem sky-dive aimed at smashing the £1000 fundraising target.

 

Harry Whittle, Head of Operations at Aire-Wharfe CHT said: “Carol is much loved by staff and well respected by tenants and it’s fair to say there’s bags of enthusiasm to raise lots of money towards Breast Cancer research.”
