Staff, board members and tenants of BCHT, Bradford’s biggest social landlord raised over £9,000 in 2005 and donated hundreds of gifts to different charities and disadvantaged children.
More than £5000 was raised by Bradford Community Housing Trust Group for the Villages of Hope Appeal which is supporting the rebuilding of homes and communities destroyed in the Tsunami disaster in South Asia.
The Villages of Hope programme was set by a partnership of housing bodies including the National Housing Federation, the Chartered Institute of Housing and Homeless international.
Over the last year, staff across the BCHT Group have got behind the Appeal with a range of fundraising activities. They have included a dance ‘Tapathon’, a sponsored slim, collections at local sheltered housing centres, a sponsored leg waxing, quizzes, a car wash and a sponsored walk.
Geraldine Howley, BCHT Group Chief Executive said: ”Staff, board members and tenants have been wonderful in raising money towards this appeal to help build sustainable housing and essential infrastructure work. Money is still coming in and all the money raised is going directly to the areas that need it.
“Many other charities and needy causes have also benefited from the time and energy of BCHT staff over the year.”
They include:-
- Over £1000 raised for the British Heart Foundation with a Garden Party in memory of Liz Devlin, a much loved BCHT employee and local trade union leader
