Housing chiefs are now reviewing options to relocate the local trustcare base.
The aim is to provide the best response service possible across the Aire Wharfe area which covers communities in and around Bingley, Ilkley, Keighley and part of Shipley.
The move is part of a district-wide review of the 24-7 mobile response service which provides valuable support, care and reassurance to elderly and vulnerable residents. The Bradford base has recently moved to Buchan Towers, off Manchester Road, into an existing concierge and security lodge run by BCHT.
Trustcare managers are looking at the most suitable and practical location option in the Aire-Wharfe area which will enhance its local service. The favoured site is Brunswick House, a block of housing trust flats in Bingley, where trustcare’s night-time mobile service is based.
The existing trustcare base is in a three-bedroom home in the Portland Court sheltered complex. There are significant parking problems there and residents have repeatedly complained about the shortage of parking spaces.
The move would release a much needed three-bedroom accommodation into the local housing market.
Ian Simpson, an Executive Director at Bradford Community Housing Trust said: “The relocation of the trustcare base will in no way diminish the service we provide to our customers in the Keighley area and a move to Bingley served by the new by-pass will ensure overall response times across Aire-Wharfe are in fact improved.
“The option of moving to Brunswick House means the service will combine day and night-time operations for the benefit of our customers. The location also benefits from 24-hour CCTV and concierge security and the health and safety of staff, including those working evening and overnight, is also an important factor in the relocation plan.”
A full consultation with staff and the trade unions into a review of the trustcare service in the Aire-Wharfe area is currently underway.
Mobile wardens spend most of their time away from their base and respond to calls coming from a control centre in Saltaire.
