Scores of balloons were this week released to celebrate ‘lift off’ for BCHT’s new dedicated trustcare service.
To date, as part of its commitment to vulnerable residents BCHT has invested nearly one million pounds installing state of the art technology within it’s sheltered housing schemes.
Our trustcare team includes 28 fully trained mobile wardens and two co-ordinators. They use a fleet of fully equipped vehicles and the team operates 24-7, 365 days a year. The team aims to complement the service provided by our team of sheltered housing wardens and the new technology.
Residents are able to call for help by pressing an alarm button, pull cord or by pressing a pendant, which they wear. The caller is immediately put through to a control centre and a trained trustcare operator assesses what help is needed. From there a mobile warden can be on the way to provide on the spot help and support.
On Tuesday (25 April), residents at Sycamore Court Sheltered Housing scheme, off Otley Road joined trustcare staff and invited guests at a launch event.
Residents and guests were given balloons to release with a trustcare label attached to each with a telephone number for the finder to call to claim a prize.
Martin Smith, Chair of BCHT Group said: “We are committed to meeting the needs of our older and more vulnerable residents and the new trustcare service will give peace of mind that help and support is just a call away.
“The trustcare team have been trained to respond to any situation in a warm, caring and supportive way.”
BCHT Group Chief Executive, Geraldine Howley said: “trustcare is an exciting new initiative from BCHT, which provides a dedicated response service to older people and housebound residents.
“BCHT is committed to providing a caring response service to our residents and this new round the clock service will provide valuable support and reassurance to older residents and their families.
“As one of only a few housing trusts offering such a personalised service we hope to develop trustcare further in the future taking advantage of new technology developments to meet our customers needs.”
