In a joint venture with a local house builder we have offered ten 2-bedroom bungalows for rent and shared ownership on the new Oakdale development at Wrose.
Each property includes gas central heating, beautifully fitted kitchen and bathroom and gardens at the front and rear.
Four of the properties were available on a shared ownership basis and six for rent. To apply people had to live locally and be aged 55 and over.
James Healy, Shipley CHT’s Head of Operations said: "The launch of our first shared ownership scheme at Esholt was a big success.
"And the response to this latest scheme has been amazing with 80 enquiries coming into Bradford Homehunter. The first tenants will be moving in the New Year.
"We are actively looking at similar joint ventures which will provide more affordable homes for local people."
Over 100 applications were made following the launch of our latest affordable housing scheme. My name is David Atkins I am the new Project Manager of the Shipley Environmental Project and I have been asked to write a brief explanation about the project in terms of its aims.
The Shipley East PACT board approached the Shipley Community Housing Trust in 2004 with a view to developing a funding bid to look at ways of remedying areas of derelict and neglected land in the former East Shipley Parliamentary Constituency.
Through negotiations a project to improve the quality of the environment around areas of social housing was developed. From this point the project widened to include the development of relationships and networks between local residents, and community organisations, which have enabled a co-operative ongoing partnership to evolve.
From the many and varied discussions that took place a business plan evolved and written. Then successful funding applications were made to the European Regional Development Fund (£66000) Neighbourhood Renewal Fund (£36000) and the Bradford Community Housing Trust (£30000) who agreed to a matched funding arrangement to finance the project.
As a direct result of the funding five jobs have been created to encourage long term unemployed back to work. - We have now appointed the team and they will be employed for twelve months.
At the time of writing we have identified the first three sites one in each of the following areas Bolton Woods, Wrose and Windhill and work will begin as soon as the environmental assistants have completed their initial training.
