Partnering Toolkit

We have been working with the Federation of Master Builders, Yorkshire Forward and the West Yorkshire Learning and Skills Council (LSC) on a national pilot to involve local companies in delivering our investment programme.

The result is the groundbreaking ‘Partnering Toolkit’ which is aimed at giving smaller businesses all the information they need to help them win a slice of the £175 million pounds we are spending in the district.

Partner workshops

We have held a series of workshops to explain the benefits of working both with us, and with our major construction partners Bullock, Lovell and Wates.

We recognise that any builder looking to do business with large companies like ourselves needs to be equipped with the necessary knowledge on pricing, customer service, health & safety and other practical issues and these workshops offer that knowledge.

Improving local skill levels by investing in young people

This year has seen the appointment of the 50th apprentice to work on our projects in the past two years.

The skills shortage suffered by the construction industry is well known and that’s why, along with our construction partners, we have placed so much emphasis on training and employing multi-skilled apprentices.
